Central Kansas District Crop Production Extension Agent Salina, Kansas
Central Kansas District consists of Ottawa and Saline counties. The population of the district is 62,000. Offices are located in Minneapolis and Salina and house the seven extension agents, four office professionals, and one 4-H program assistant. The district has two colleges, seven public school districts, eleven high schools, a regional medical center, and is a shopping and employment hub. There are 433,265 acres of cropland. Major crops are wheat, soybean, corn, grain, sorghum, and forage crops. This position will be highly specialized in the area of crop production and will be responsible for programming throughout the district. Extension agents are professional educators who serve as a link between Kansas State University and communities across Kansas. This position will provide primary leadership for the development, dissemination and implementation of research-based educational programs related to production, management and marketing issues involved in crop production. Programs will include but are not limited to: tillage, planting, and variety selection; irrigation; weed, disease, and pest control; soil testing and fertilization; harvesting and post-harvest handling; sustainable practices; soil and water conservation and quality; risk management including crop marketing, crop insurance, and farm bill; decision tools including crop leasing arrangements; and bio-energy.
UAS Student Hourly Intern Salina, Kansas
The Applied Aviation Research Center seeks multiple UAS interns this semester. These internship opportunities are specifically for students enrolled in the UAS Flight and Operations program and will serve as Student Flight Instructors. Flight Instructors will provide students training in UAS multi-rotor and/or fixed wing operations. Flight activities will include serving as a Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) or flight instructor for KDOT-sponsored Integration Pilot Program (IPP), which includes beyond visual line of sight operations (BVLOS). Interns are expected to work up to 30 hours per week.

Programming will include but is not limited to: supporting community clubs, out-of-school programs, school enrichment, volunteer management, and outreach to create new program opportunities with existing and new community partners.
