General Description of Position: The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for the Beef Cattle Institute Research Director. The purpose of this position is to coordinate Beef Cattle Institute research efforts specifically in the area of data analytics and other industry relevant projects. The qualified applicant will be responsible for managing projects including defining and adhering to project budgets and timelines. The person will need to possess skills in all aspects of livestock research including experimental design, authoring protocols, designing data capture forms, performing statistical analysis, interpreting results, and generating outcomes in the form of public presentations and peer-reviewed manuscripts. Additional skills include data management, data analytics, statistical expertise, and generating deliverables in the form of oral or written presentations. Experience in project management and completing goals in a timely fashion is necessary. Experience in beef cattle research will be important as this person will work independently in addition to collaborating with faculty, graduate and veterinary students.

Job Description: This position will provide project leadership for Beef Cattle Institute including setting project goals, budgeting, fiscal management, data analysis, resource / personnel allocation, and outcome evaluation. The person in this position will be responsible for insuring project timelines are met including defining and meeting milestone achievements. Position will also be responsible for defining and adhering to specific budgets for individual projects. Provide leadership in writing research protocols and grants proposals for new work. Summarizing results and formatting for publication of peer reviewed manuscripts. Other duties will include working with graduate students and collaborative faculty to achieve project goals related to research programs and assisting the BCI team in completing project goals associated with research program including big data analytics, project management, and logistics coordination.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D.
Preferred Qualifications: Skills and knowledge in data mining and statistics. Specific knowledge on use of statistical software including: JMP, SAS, STATA, and R. Also preferred is knowledge on data management programs (e.g. Knime or Insightful Miner) and stochastic modeling applications (e.g. Crystal Ball). 
Training in beef cattle research projects with history of publication of results.
