General Description of Position: The K-State Center for Child Development, a nationally accredited early childhood program, is looking for a highly dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Teacher. The lead teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally age-appropriate program in accordance with all legislation, policies and procedures.
Information about the Department:

The Center provides early childhood care and education programs for children of:

  • K-State students,
  • Faculty,
  • Staff, and
  • Community families
The Center is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to serve 230 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age at the Jardine site. During the academic year, the Center provides care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. During the summer months, the Center offers a Summer Camp for kindergartners to the age of 12.

Job Description: This position instructs children in a positive, professional learning environment with self-designed activities that promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for elementary school. Requires considerable contact with children, parents, and other staff members to attain common goals. Exercises active listening, instructing, reading comprehension, learning strategies, writing, social perceptiveness, time management, monitoring, and critical thinking skills. This position reports to the appropriate administrator.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Child Development Associate, or 12 hours of college level course work in Early Childhood, or AA in ECE. Expectation of actively pursuing Associates or Bachelor’s Degree as outlined in NAEYC Accreditation Criteria.

Salary Range / Pay Rate: $11.48 - $17.22 per hour
