General Description of Position:

Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Social Work Positions in Manhattan, Kansas beginning August 2018. 

Information about the Department: The Social Work Program has approximately 200 students in Manhattan and 30 in Salina. A total of nine faculty members staff the program with six in Manhattan and three in Salina.

Job Description:

Responsibilities for these positions include limited academic advising, student admissions, the pursuit of extramural funding, academic research, departmental and university service, and teaching five courses per academic year. 

One position will target candidates with demonstrated expertise and teaching interest in social work macro-practice with communities and organizations. 

The second position could include expertise in one or more of the following content areas: Direct Social Work Practice, Research, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Social Welfare and/or Social Policy.

Specific teaching assignments are determined with consideration of interests and expertise of all teaching faculty. An understanding of diversity and experience working with a diverse student body is significant. Knowledge of research methods and evidence based practice is essential.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Social Work or other closely related social science field and a Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program. 
  • Applicants must have two years post MSW social work practice experience.
  • Practice, teaching and/or research experience in social work with individuals, families, groups, organizations and/or communities. 
  • Clear ability to produce a focused line of research. 
  • Demonstrated potential for securing extramural funding.
  • A strong commitment to diversity and social justice. 
  • Qualified for Social Work licensure in Kansas.
Preferred Qualifications:

Macro Practice Expertise or interest in research or work with large systems, communities and organization.

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

Salary is commensurate with experience in the range of $65,000.
