General Description of Position:

 Kansas State University Olathe (http://olathe.k-state.edu) is seeking a part-time events assistant. Reporting to the events coordinator, this position works with facility operations director, food program and services manager and other Kansas State staff to support planning, promoting, and coordinating meetings, events, classes and conferences. This position will be exposed to all aspects of event coordination and reception skills at a full-service event facility. It also provides unique opportunities to work directly with food services and programs and facility operations. The position will consist of working up to 16 hours (0.40 FTE), and be available to work early morning, evening and weekend events.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Assist with drink/food setup and restocking, assisting clients throughout event, and handling other event details as needed.
  • Assist events coordinator with preparing and distributing weekly event schedules, reports and other communications for internal staff.
  • Assist events coordinator and facility operations director with event setup and tear down and other building logistics as needed.
  • Assist with facility requests for banquets, meetings, classes, conferences and special events.
  •  Assist with all on-site facility logistics including staffing, meeting room setups, and catering needs.
  • Assist filing and distribution of event confirmations, contracts, invoices, post-event reports, surveys and evaluations.
  • Maintain a professional image and develop relationships with clients, guests, students and Kansas State University staff and faculty.
  • Attend operations and staff meetings as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in catering, working events, or food service.

Other Requirements:

Be available to work early morning, evening and weekend events.

Salary Range and Benefits:

Pay Range:  $14.21-21.31 per hour. Pay commensurate with candidate's ability and experience.
