General Description of Position:

The K-State Center for Child Development, a nationally accredited early childhood program, is looking for a highly dedicated and enthusiastic temporary part-time Child Development Teaching Assistant.

Information about the Department:

The Center provides early childhood care and education programs for children of:

  • K-State Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Community Families

The Center is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to serve 230 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years. During the academic year, the center provides care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. During the summer months, the center offers a Summer Camp for Kindergartners to the age of 12.

The Successful Candidate will:

This position provides support to a lead worker in the areas of designing, planning and leading activities for children. Ensures a clean, safe environment for all children in attendance. Communicates with teaching staff, parents and administrators regarding issues that concern preschool students. Requires substantial contact with children, parents and other staff in order to facilitate a safe, educational and stimulating environment. This position reports to the appropriate administrator.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma and the following credentials: five sessions of observation for not less than two and one-half consecutive hours per observation in licensed preschools or child care centers with one year teaching experience in a licensed center or preschool, or one year of supervised practicum in licensed center or preschool.

OR

Seven to nine semester hours of academic credit or equivalent training in child development or early childhood education and three months teaching experience in a licensed center or preschool, or one year of supervised practicum in licensed center or preschool.

Preferred Qualifications:

Child Development Associate and/or an AA or BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$9.68 - $14.04 per hour
