General Description of Position:

Applications are invited for a research technician to work on a NIH funded COBRE center grant.

Information about the Department:

The COBRE center will be housed within the Department of Psychological Sciences.  The Research Technician will work within the COBRE behavioral neuroscience core facility, located within the Psychological Sciences department. The core facility supports four investigators and their laboratories. Our mission is to establish a high impact research center within the area of Cognitive and Neurobiological Approaches to Plasticity.

Job Description:

The Research Technician will be working on an NIH COBRE center grant awarded to Dr. Kimberly Kirkpatrick. The activities center on the successful management of the Behavioral Neuroscience Core facility and support for investigators working on the center grant. This position will primarily involve animal care and use activities, cage washing, facility cleaning and maintenance, and management of animal care and use records.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a High School Diploma (or work equivalent)


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with animals in a laboratory or non-laboratory setting

General knowledge of animal welfare practices

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Experience working in a laboratory setting

Good communication skills

Good attention to detail

Coursework, formal training, or certification in animal care, rodent physiology, or other relevant areas
