General Description of Position:

The College of Education at Kansas State University seeks to appoint a full-time Assistant Dean for Student Success to lead its student services activities. This is a 12-month position. Primary responsibilities include overseeing student service initiatives, including recruitment, engagement, and retention efforts. Specifically, the Assistant Dean will direct all undergraduate advising and supervise teacher licensure processes undertaken through the Center for Student Success.

The Assistant Dean for Student Success is responsible for leading the College’s recruitment efforts, developing student engagement strategies to aid retention, providing orientation and enrollment sessions, and serving on college and university committees. Analyzing and presenting student data in reports and other venues are required. Further, the Assistant Dean will supervise the staff of the Center for Student Success, including professional academic advisors, a licensure officer, a recruitment coordinator, and office support staff, as well as graduate assistants and undergraduate student workers.

NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising is housed in the College of Education. Also, the NACADA Research Center for Academic Advising at Kansas State University was recently initiated and is focused on research in academic advising and student success.

The local economy is bolstered by K-State and its proximity to Fort Riley, a large U.S. Army installation. Surrounded by the beautiful Flint Hills and future home of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), Manhattan is located 50 miles west of the state capital of Topeka and 125 miles west of Kansas City.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Earned doctorate in student affairs, counseling, education, or related field
  2. Knowledge of and experience with university recruitment and retention strategies
  3. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and educational opportunity
  4. Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills
  5. Professional leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in supervision and personnel management
  2. Two years of administrative experience in higher education
  3. Experience in P-12 educational settings
  4. Academic advising experience

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:
