General Description of Position:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a assistant scientist to work on field, greenhouse and laboratory research activities related to EPSCoR II heat stress cereals and commodity commission projects. This individual will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams in the Crop Physiology and Precision Agriculture Laboratories.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Agronomy or related field. Valid driver's license upon employment and maintain it.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Agronomy or related field. Understanding of mechanics and experience with unmanned aerial vehicles.  Experience with operating tractors, planters, sprayers, and combines.  Proficiency in MS office.  Basic knowledge in mechanical and electrical aspects to support the maintenance and improvement of the field based infrastructure.

Physical Activities and Environmental Conditions :

Physical activities: Pulling/pushing, speaking, walking/running, sitting, twisting/bending, feeling/handling, standing, carrying, driving, reaching and writing. Environmental conditions: Normal office environment, darkness or poor lighting, traffic, weather extremes, dust/fumes, noise, weather extremes, moving machinery/heavy equipment and chemicals.
