General Description of Position:

This position of Culture and Community Coordinator for the Center for Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy (CIMA) includes community and culture coordination of an internationally funded project designed to increase the number and enhance the quality of non-EFL education teachers in Saudi Arabia. The students supported will be those who are completing non-licensing, EFL and professional development courses for teaching as well as a practicum experience. The responsibilities include building relationships and maintaining communication with state and local schools, coordinating cultural events (i.e., community events, workshops, and acculturation activities). Such responsibilities involve serving as liaison between academic coordinator, school administrators, cooperating teachers, program participants, and additional key stakeholders.

Job Description:

  • Work on day-to-day coordination of cultural and community activities as planned through the identified goals and objectives as agreed upon with the sponsoring agency.
  • Meet regularly with participants and project personnel to ensure that the planned goals and objectives are being completed as outlined through the project.
  • Work closely with the PI, Associate Director for Academic Outreach, and Associate Director for International Programs & Research to plan, develop, manage and evaluate the program.
  • Arrange details and schedules of immersion sites for the program participants.
  • Oversee and conduct the transportation to and from area schools, cultural events, training activities, and other program activities, which could be in Manhattan, area communities, and to and from the Kansas City airport.
  • Assist Instructors and presenters with classroom organization, materials, and engagement activities.
  • Schedule and train transportation support, as needed, who will assist in transporting participants to various locations.
  • Coordinate submission of all transportation logs.
  • Monitor participant immersion hours required to meet the objectives of the program. Maintain logs for each participant and provide project personnel with regular updates.
  • Participate in meetings with all key stakeholders, regularly and as needed.
  • Work with the PI, Associate Director for Academic Outreach, and Associate Director for International Programs & Research in submitting required monthly, mid-program, and end-of-program performance reports.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree completed at time of appointment.
  • Valid driver’s license upon employment (and maintain it). 
  • Completion of Kansas State University Van Driving course within 1 month of appointment to drive a 14-passenger van.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years experience working with international and culturally diverse students, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Bilingual/Proficient in Arabic. 
  • Three years of experience in logistical and administrative support work.
  • Experience in driving a 14-passenger van.

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

$36,674.00 - $56,845.00 - $17.63-$27.33 per hour
