General Description of Position:

The Department of Physics is seeking applicants for an Accounting Specialist to work directly under the Accountant III in the College of Arts & Sciences, North Shared Services Center, which includes the Departments of Physics and Mathematics.  Will be required to oversee the departmental accounting needs when the Accountant III is not available.  This will include accounts payables, travel, purchase orders and accounts receivable.

The Shared Center handles all accounting processing for the Departments of Physics and Mathematics.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma (or work equivalent) and a minimum of six months of relevant professional experience in an accounting function.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years training in accounting practices and business office function and three years of work experience within the accounting field. Working knowledge of an accounting program, preferably Quick Books, and of Windows applications.  Good oral and written communication abilities and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. The ability to work within a high-volume, fast-paced setting is beneficial with strong attention to detail, organization and time-management skills preferred.

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

12.63 – 18.95 per hour.

Please note: the minimum salary for this position is $12.63 hourly. Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
