General Description of Position:

This position will provide ongoing information technology support to the Vice President for Research offices. Incumbent will ensure the proper configuration and functioning of workstations, network servers, and computer labs, as well as serve as second- and third-tier support for IT issues and provide input in determining technology needs for a unit. Duties include database administration and management, general hardware and software support, server configuration and management, as well as support to maintain firewalls, data encryption, and antivirus software.

The Successful Candidate will:

Provide general hardware and software support:

  • Support for all systems used by the Vice President for Research offices.
  • General hardware support including procurement, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement new operating systems and versions across multiple devices.
  • Program and alteration of operating systems. 
  • Develop Word, LiveCycle and other PDF fillable forms.
  • Support the accounting systems software used by Administrative Services.
  • Develop a hardware strategy to ensure staff have the appropriate and up-to-date hardware while being fiscally conscientious.

Database, Server, and Firewall management:

  • Maintain the departmental servers and firewalls for continued operation. INCLUDES PreAwards Database, COMPLY Database, and Cayuse 424 access.
  • Protect servers and access control (firewall management, user access control).
  • Maintain and update databases, including programming, assuring compatibility with new systems.
  • Modify systems for compatibility with databases and automating services.
  • Oversee data warehouse extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process for Sponsored Research Activity data.

Other duties:

  • Maintain the website resources such as web pages, surveys, forms and online information.
  • Hire, supervise, and mentor an assistant position.
  • Engage vendors to address technology needs of Vice President for Research offices as warranted.
  • Actively support business intelligence initiative including data modeling, report development, and training.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of experience in computer support, server management, network administration, and/or database management.

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$41,258-$63,950 = $19.84 - $30.75 hourly

Please note: the minimum salary for this position is $41,258. Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
