General Description of Position: The Department of Anatomy and Physiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University invites applications for a Physiologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor. This is a tenure track or clinical track, full-time, 12-month position with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the department including physiology. The successful candidate may also be expected to establish and maintain an extramural funded research program based on the specific appointment (tenure track vs clinical track).
Information about the Department: The Department of Anatomy and Physiology is multi-disciplinary with responsibilities in instruction, research, service and continuing education including the disciplines of gross and microscopic anatomy, cell and systems physiology, pharmacology, toxicology and neuroscience. Areas of research include: aging, alcohol dependence, anatomy (gross and microscopic), biomedical nanotechnology, cancer, cystic fibrosis, epithelial physiology, hearing loss, heart failure, kinesiology, male infertility, Parkinson’s disease, stem cell biology, teaching methods and veterinary clinical pharmacology.

Job Description: The successful candidate will teach in physiology courses to professional veterinary and graduate students and mentor graduate students in an area of the candidate’s expertise. The incumbent in a tenure track position will also maintain a dynamic, extramurally funded research program focused on physiology. Service on department, college and/or university committees is also expected.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Assistant Professor: PhD in physiology or related field; record of publications in peer reviewed journals.

Associate Professor or Professor: PhD in physiology or related field; teaching experience in physiology at the university level; a record of extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications commensurate with tenure/rank at Kansas State University.

Preferred Qualifications: Assistant Professor: DVM/PhD, teaching experience of professional students in veterinary, medical or comparative physiology; demonstrated potential for successful extramural grant applications; postdoctoral fellowship; clinical veterinary experience.

Associate Professor or Professor: DVM/PhD, teaching experience of professional students in veterinary, medical or comparative physiology; evidence of excellence in teaching and innovative approach to the veterinary curriculum (please highlight these points in the curriculum vitae); current extramural grant support for research; eminent record of publication in peer-reviewed high impact journals; clinical veterinary experience.
