About This Role:

Our talented renovations and special projects team has an ambitious project list for the next several years, creating a need for additional team members to perform a broad range of projects.  We plan to add eight Construction Workers to the team.  The positions are two year, limited term appointments with regular work hours of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Construct or alter walls, ceilings, floors, dividers, openings.
  • Hang drywall, paneling, wall coverings or applies special finishes. Prepare and finish drywall.   
  • Install door frames, doors, hardware, floors, ceilings, cabinets, wardrobes and other fixed furnishings
  • Prepare and finish interior surfaces.
  • Remove old finishes using chemical and hand or power tool.   
  • Install new wiring, fixtures, and other electrical components
  • Replace and repair plumbing fixtures, faucets, valves, fittings, bath and shower facilities, water heaters and related equipment.  
  • Removes, installs, and repairs resilient floor covering, carpet and tile.  
  • Inspect, repair and install new masonry structures with stone, block, tile, brick, concrete and ceramic tile.  Lays new shower pans, mixes mortar, grout, and seals. 
  • Plasters walls, pours and finishes concrete floors, checks forms and drains for proper grade
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to include transportation of supplies and materials, clean up of job site, care and storage of tools and equipment.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Various training and/or certification may be required.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in the building or mechanical trades.
  • Experience in large scale remodeling or general construction desired.
  • Completion of coursework in building trades at a trade school or apprenticeship training.
  • Ability to participate effectively and harmoniously as a team member.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in the trade and their application.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license upon employment.
  • Availability for occasional calls after hours for emergency repairs
  • This position is considered essential during a Declaration of Inclement Weather for the Manhattan campus.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
