About This Role:

The Department of Modern Languages seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of French who values multicultural perspectives in both teaching and research and has experience teaching beginner and intermediate French language courses. This is a one-year position beginning fall 2018.

The Visiting Assistant Professor should demonstrate ability to teach literature and culture at all levels (beginner language to advanced undergraduate courses) as they will teach 3 courses per semester at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including Composition and Grammar. Preferred areas of specialization include, but are not limited to: translation and stylistics, Francophone culture and literature, cultural studies, or second language acquisition.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD/ABD
  • Native or near-native proficiency in French and English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD by August 2018
  • Expertise or experience in one of the following areas desired: translation, stylistics, Francophone culture and literature, cultural studies, language acquisition

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
