About this Role: Kansas State University, School of Family Studies and Human Services, is seeking a part-time Research Assistant with excellent organization and oral/written communication skills to work at Fort Riley, Kansas, on a USDA-funded Family Advocacy Program study. This person will work in collaboration with other research staff at Kansas State University, Northern Illinois University, and other Air Force bases involved in the project.

This person is the on-site administrator of the sponsored project to facilitate daily implementation of the research-based project by promoting the program, selecting research participants, designing and implementing database information and collaborating with other researchers.

NOTE:  Candidate must currently posses a Department of Defense (DoD) issued identification card that allows them access to the Fort Riley Installation.

Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with on-post clinicians to identify and select research participants. Once participants have been accepted into the program, the program assistant will conduct meetings to explain the project and obtain informed consent. The program assistant will design an appropriate method of record keeping identifying the participants, preferred methods of contact, and establishing schedules for participants’ input into the study. The program assistant will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a database to accomplish all aspects of record-keeping, data collection and analysis for the project.
  • Collaborative work with research at other Air Force bases, Northern Illinois University and Kansas State University to insure data collection procedures are being followed equally in both military locations and in reporting of data. The program assistant will be working closely with the principle investigator to coordinate activities at both sites and with cooperating universities. This activity will include interpretation of data, validation of data and report writing.
  • Other administrative tasks to assist principal investigator during the conduct of said research.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Required education is a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, human ecology or business related field. 
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications are general knowledge of administration and research methodology at academic institutions, experience in conducting research, knowledge of domestic violence, demonstrated ability to work with confidential materials, and computer competency.  Experience with and/or knowledge of military family support programs.

Salary Range / Pay Rate: $ 16.38 - $ 27.85 per hour
