About This Role:

The Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department at Kansas State University invites applications for a post-doctoral fellow to contribute to the department’s growing activity in supply chain engineering for public health and humanitarian applications.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct fundamental and applied research to advance understanding about public health and humanitarian supply chain coordination;
  • Disseminate research findings to practitioners and academics via conference talks and publications;
  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers;
  • Support a graduate course in supply chain engineering; and
  • Develop instructional modules to introduce pre-college and undergraduate students to public health and humanitarian supply chain applications of operations research.

In this appointment, you will work under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Heier Stamm.  The initial appointment is for nine months beginning on July 15, 2018, and is renewable based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.  The starting date is flexible.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in industrial engineering, operations research, or closely related field by time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in optimization and/or game theory modeling and algorithms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience applying operations research methods to supply chain logistics problems
  • Experience applying operations research methods in humanitarian and/or public health domains
  • Experience supervising graduate and/or undergraduate students in research
  • Experience and/or interest in teaching, developing teaching cases, and creating instructional materials

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
