About This Role:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Fellow (Post Doc) to work on field, greenhouse and laboratory research activities related to wheat yield and insect resistance. This individual will work closely with the USDA-ARS Manhattan team and conduct genomics and genetics research to identify and characterize genes resistant to important wheat insects and transfer the genes into locally adapted wheat backgrounds to develop elite germplasm.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in genetics and breeding

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with wheat QTL fine mapping, cloning, yield component evaluation, next generation sequencing and high-throuput genotyping, and gene expression.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Experience in high-throughput DNA isolation, using wheat reference genome sequence information, basic bioinformatics.
