This position is to assume fiscal management responsibilities for the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department. This position provides expertise in grant administration and management.
Control and audit accounting and fiscal operation of the departmental financial records and activities. Develop and administer databases for various sources of funding from allocated, revenue stream and sponsored projects, Global Campus and Course Fees.
Develop budgets using detailed and expenditure and allocation data and consult with department head to facilitate the budgetary needs of the department.
Reconcile all accounts monthly and at fiscal year-end and consult with account auditors to insure compliance.
Develop a variety of standard and non-standard reports to meet faculty, department, university and federal agency needs and requirements. Provide regular reporting to project investigators on various funds.
Review all expenditures and budgets for compliance with state and federal policy.
Make recommendations to department head concerning leveraging of funds, balances on hand and any other fiscal advise expected from a budget manager.
Function as procurement officer for purchases of scientific laboratory supplies including obtaining bids for large pieces of scientific equipment. Negotiate and consult with vendors, projects investigators and compliance officers to obtain best prices, timely delivery and quality of product.
Analyze financial report data and take appropriate action. Calculate and prepare schedules of charges using cost accounting methods.
