About this Role: The Center for Outcomes Research and Epidemiology (CORE) in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University, is seeking applicants with expertise in applied research design and data analysis to join our collaborative team as a full-time permanent Research Associate

We seek candidates with documented skills in study design, data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of data/results from applied research.  Experience with statistical methods to analyze population or health data, including general and generalized linear mixed models, is required, as is a M.S. degree in biostatistics, agricultural statistics, quantitative epidemiology or related fields.  Knowledge and applied expertise in both experimental and observational research design and analysis, and familiarity with health and/or agricultural production systems are preferred.

Duties / Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have opportunities to engage in the diverse outcomes-based research and training programs of the Center (http://www.vet.k-state.edu/core).  Current analytical methods of focus include linear and generalized linear mixed-effects models, risk assessment, Bayesian methods, network modeling, structural equation modeling, meta-analysis, infectious disease modeling, real-time surveillance, and the development of health and economic decision-support tools. These methods are applied to a wide variety of programs on animal health, livestock production, zoonotic disease, food safety, and transboundary disease. This full-time unclassified position provides University benefits and allows excellent salary support reflecting qualifications and experience.  
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in biostatistics, agricultural statistics, quantitative epidemiology or related field
  • Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Analytical skills
  • General and generalized linear mixed models
  • Application of statistical methods to analyze health/population data
  • Knowledge and applied expertise in both experimental and observational research design and analysis and familiarity with health and/or agricultural production systems
  • Skills and experience in study design, statistical analysis and interpretation of data/results
  • Good scientific writing to contribute to reports, journal articles and/or grant proposals
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills with statistical software programs

Salary Range / Pay Rate: $ 43,278 - $ 75,736 annual salary
