About This Role:

The Teaching Assistant Professor position for the Center for Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy (CIMA) involves teaching graduate/undergraduate courses that focus upon the needs and experiences of in-service and pre-service classroom teachers with students that are culturally and linguistically diverse. 

  • Teach and advise graduate students in ESL courses, including any of the following general topical areas of ESL in which you might be asked to teach: Methods, Culture and Language, Linguistics, Assessment, and the ESL Practicum Experience.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers of multilingual and intercultural students.
  • Collaborate with Center for Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy (CIMA) faculty/coordinators to develop occasional proposals for external funding, especially for teacher preparation, professional development, or masters proposals.
  • Collaborate with CIMA faculty in recurrent ESL/EFL curriculum updates and/or refinements.
  • Attain graduate faculty status at KSU and begin advising masters students, as demand requires and serve on graduate student and other departmental/college committees, as the CIMA Director may require.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Earned doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasis in English as a Second Language

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching education graduate and undergraduate level college courses; Working with linguistically diverse populations.
  • Established record in research.
  • Knowledge of theories of college student development; Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$56,000 - $62,000  12 month, non-tenure track, term contract.  Anticipated start date August 2018.
