About This Role:

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for providing a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. This position exists to prevent property loss and/or damage, injury and/or incapacitation.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and understand written laws, rules, regulations and directives.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations which pertain to the University.
  • Capable of detecting and reporting conditions which might cause loss or damage to property.
  • Be able to work under stressful situations and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, faculty/staff, students, clients and guests.
  • Ability to make written reports in a clear and concise manner. 

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Valid drivers license once employed.
  • CPR and First Aid certification necessary after employment (within probationary period)
  • Must undergo a background investigation to include a fingerprint search of local, state, and national files to determine whether a criminal record exists.
  • Must not have been convicted by any state or federal government of a felonious crime or its equivalent.
  • Must be of good moral character.
