About This Role:

The Associate Dean for Academic Incubation and Innovation serves in a lead position addressing university-wide academic portfolio management for enrollment growth.  Housed in Global Campus, the Academic Incubation and Innovation unit develops, manages and launches new learning initiatives through collaboration with all colleges, departments, and campuses at Kansas State University.  The associate dean leads and directs academic incubation strategic planning efforts in collaboration with faculty, students, staff and administrators across the university.  This individual is responsible for developing, maintaining and evaluating academic incubation and implementation structures that support the overarching academic enterprise and reflect continuous improvement processes.  Additionally, the associate dean will lead digital learning research efforts, growing K-State's presence and stature within this growing field of study.  This will entail leadership of faculty-centered initiatives intended to explore the role of technology and innovation in digital learning.  The associate dean also provides strategic leadership in creating an institutional culture and capacity for innovative design and exceptional quality. The position reports directly to the dean of Global Campus to create and incubate new academic programs.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in instructional design, education technology, instructional technology or a related degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of academic administrative experience in progressively responsible positions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree or equivalent in instructional design, education technology, instructional technology or a related degree
  • Demonstrated success in working with academic leaders and faculty
  • Extensive curriculum development and project leadership experience with the ability to lead high-quality projects/initiatives with senior level stakeholders
  • Capacity to build a strong and collegial community within the university
  • A superior ability in oral, written, and interpersonal communication
  • A demonstrated track record of facilitating faculty development and mentoring programs and working with deans, department heads, and administration
  • Experience overseeing online courses and programs
  • Established record of engagement in research, scholarship and large-scale inter-institutional initiatives
  • Demonstrated leadership in innovative design
  • Experience in a research-focused university setting
  • Experience working on analytics projects and tools
  • Demonstrated initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, and service-oriented attitude
  • Supervisory and operational management experience of professional staff

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:



Please note: the minimum pay rate for this position is $84,990/year. Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
