About This Role:

This position oversees a team focused on maintaining Housing and Dining Services’ (HDS) dining centers and retail venue facilities and the specialized equipment used in these operations. The position is expected to function as a "working supervisor" in addition to planning and organizing work activities.  The position regularly interacts with dining center and retail venues managers and staff to exchange information, advise, and coordinate work activities in a manner that is responsive, timely and as disruptive as possible to operations.

  • Supervise a team of skilled employees and actively participate as a “working supervisor in the maintenance and repair of commercial foodservice equipment.
  • Assists in the overall planning and development of maintenance projects in dining centers and retail venues.  Inspects facilities and equipment and recommends improvements and repairs.  Provides cost estimates and initiates solutions to recurring problems. Applies resourcefulness and creativity in some situations.
  • Manages maintenance projects and work order requests to ensure timely, quality facilities and equipment.  Coordinates outside contracts as needed for completion of specialized maintenance work.
  • Hires, trains, coaches and evaluates employees in a manner that produces an engaged, high performing team that support and sustain quality services and products.
  • Effectively communicates with others to provide needed information that impacts operations.  Promotes and maintains a harmonious work environment.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma and 5-10 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of trade school or apprenticeship in multiple mechanical trades
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of commercial foodservice equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair commercial foodservice equipment
  • Ability to red blueprints and schematics
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer service

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Valid drivers license upon employment
  • Completion of KSU Introduction to Supervision Training within six months of appointment
  • Certification of Class II Asbetos Worker within six months of employment

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$17.98 - $27.88 per hour.

Actual pay rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
