About This Role:

This position oversees a team focused on maintaining Housing and Dining Services’ (HDS) residence hall facilities and the mechanical/operating systems and equipment in the facilities.  The position is expected to function as a "working supervisor" in addition to overseeing work assignments, planning and organizing work activities and coaching and supervising a service oriented, engaged team.  The position regularly interacts with others to exchange information, advise, and coordinate work activities in a manner that is responsive, and timely.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma and 5-10 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of trade school or apprenticeship in multiple mechanical trades
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Journeyman level knowledge in one or more building trades and/or in the operation of building mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building hardware and systems
  • Ability to red blueprints and schematics
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer service

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Valid drivers license upon employment
  • Completion of KSU Introduction to Supervision Training within six months of appointment
  • Certification of Class II Asbestos Worker within six months of employment

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:

$17.98 - $27.88 per hour.

Please note: the minimum pay rate for this position is $17.98. Actual pay rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Pay rate offers are typically made between $17.98 and $22.93 of the pay range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
