About This Role:

The Office of Employee Relations & Engagement is seeking applicants for an Employee Relations and Engagement Specialist within the division of Human Capital Services. This position will assist in the investigation, mediation, and resolution of employee relation issues and/or grievances.

  • Explores work-related issues such as working conditions or disciplinary actions in order to minimize or eliminate employee relations issues.
  • Function as liaison to University Support Staff (USS) Senate.
  • Initially, screens assigned department employee relation issues with supervisors and employees
  • Manages performance reviews through Imagenow and notifies supervisors of upcoming probationary or overdue reviews
  • Prepare and present required and special reports to include, but not limited to employee relations resources, and trends
  • Develop training and present training opportunities to enhance engagement, employee morale, and relevant employee relations policies and procedures
  • Maintain familiarity with the employee assistance programs and other KSU resources
  • Answer and interpret policies and procedures related to employee relation University Support Staff grievances
  • Serves as administrative support

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an associate degree and one year of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus related experience in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct, hands-on experience in the area of employee relations or related area
  • Effectively communication skills - verbal, written and presentation
  • Ability to assess situations, identify issues and exposure/risks, and generate appropriate solutions in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Customer service experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to proofread and manage website
  • Experience with a file management system 
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience in conflict resolution

Pay Rate:

$17.98-$27.88 per hour ($37,410-$57,980 Annually)

*Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, internal equity, and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically between the $17.98 and $22.93 of the pay rate range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
