About This Role:

Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC), a non-profit corporation dedicated to the advancement of education and learning about agriculture with primary and secondary students, teachers and educators is seeking an Executive Director to oversee all business operations. The Executive Director will seek out strategic partnerships and funding opportunities to grow the presence for KFAC in Kansas and communicate regularly with the foundation board of directors, donors, supporters and educators.

Responsibilities Include:

50% Fundraising and Financial Management

  • Develop new and build on existing relationships that support the mission of KFAC
  • Seek innovative ways to fund programming
  • Pursue additional funding and collaborate with other organizations also seeking funds
  • Develop sustainable revenue sources
  • Complete all components of reporting as required by
  • fundraising efforts
  • Cultivate advocacy for KFAC
  • Manage financial information, prepare and communicate various reports, budget to the board and stakeholders

30% Administrative Management

  • Supervise staff
  • Communicate regularly with Foundation Board of Directors
  • and donors through various means of communication
  • Maintain the Foundation’s office, including files, historical records, resource library and lesson plans
  • Oversee and execute on a strategic vision in cooperation
  • with the Foundation’s Board of Directors
  • Increase visibility of KFAC

20% Educational Program Development and Implementation

  • Provide educational opportunities and tools for teachers and students
  • Work with Kansas educators to provide ag literacy in-service training

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in education or agriculture related field.
  • Experience in non-profit management.
  • Grant writing and/or fundraising experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer programs including MS Office as well as creating and using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience related to financial management.
  • Experience with program development and project monitoring.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational, evaluation and data management skills and the demonstrated ability to generate and review reports. The ability to communicate to a wide range of individuals. The ability to be proactive and productive in a fast-paced, outreach environment and be able to identify innovative solutions to problems. Experience in working with a board. Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity and teamwork.

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:


Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
