About This Role:

Kansas State University invites applications for the position of Business Manager for the Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab (SIIL).  KSU has been funded by USAID to act as the management entity (ME) for the Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab (SIIL).  This lab is tasked with supporting collaborative research in Feed the Future (FtF) focus countries including, but not limited to:  Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and Cambodia through a country directed portfolio of research projects on sustainable intensification.

The Business Manager will be responsible for all components of financial management, post-award accounting, procurements, travel planning, and business management of the SIIL.  This position will be responsible for the disbursement of funds to the entities receiving sub-awards, host country partners, regional coordinators, and the two consortia of the SIIL.   This position will also work and interface with the K-State pre- and post award services to ensure proper award and accounting procedures are followed as well as timely transfer of funds.  The Business Manager will report directly to the College of Agriculture/KSRE Budget /Fiscal Officer.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and one to three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related discipline
  • Post award account experience
  • University experience
  • Pre award experience
  • International program experience
  • Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret financial reports
  • Detail oriented and independent worker with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
  • Good organizational skills
  • Understanding of general auditing principles
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Inquisitive and comfortable performing in-depth research
  • Ability to comply with federal, state, and university regulations and policies


Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • International travel will be required on a limited basis.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$50,000 - $60,000 depending upon qualifications
