The College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University seeks nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. Arts and Sciences, K-State's largest college, has more than 4500 undergraduate and graduate students, with 45 undergraduate degree programs, 16 doctorate and terminal degree programs, and a range of other masters-only programs, accelerated BS/MS programs, and undergraduate and graduate certificates. The College's 22 departments cover the visual and performing arts, the humanities, and the social, physical, and life sciences. Arts & Sciences’ Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) expenditures were $47.9M in FY2022, and College faculty generated over $23M in extramural grant awards in FY2023. Kansas State University is a land-grant, R1 institution with an ambitious new strategic plan to lead as a “next-generation land-grant university”: Next-Gen K-State. It is situated in the growing community of Manhattan, KS, nestled in the beautiful Flint Hills of northeastern Kansas. This is a regular administrative appointment with a five-year review cycle. Effective starting date of this appointment is negotiable, but we hope to fill the position in spring 2024. Kansas State University (K-State) seeks an experienced, accomplished and authentic leader with a strong commitment to student access and success, and the mission of land-grant institutions, to serve as its next Provost and Executive Vice President (Provost/EVP). Reporting to the president, the Provost/EVP serves as the university’s chief academic officer and a strategic leader on all aspects of university governance and the academic enterprise. The Provost/EVP partners with the President and other university leaders on the design and implementation of the University’s strategic and operational activities, with primary responsibility for providing positive and effective leadership for the University’s academic endeavors and for shaping the academic culture of K-State. The Provost/EVP oversees the university curriculum, faculty appointments, and other academically related areas at a Carnegie R1 Research and leading land-grant university. The Provost/EVP has general charge and responsibility for the supervision and oversight of all academic colleges, schools, programs, and campuses as well as the university’s strategic enrollment management activities. In addition, the Provost/EVP serves on the President’s Cabinet, leads the Deans’ Council, and provides state-wide leadership by serving on the Council of Chief Academic Officers of the Kansas Board of Regents.

The Department Head will provide strategic leadership in the implementation of a strategic vision that will unlock potential and enable the department to thrive in an interdisciplinary research environment at a dynamic R1 land-grant university, and establish the department as a leader in both modern theory and application of statistics. The successful candidate should have credentials for appointment at the full professor rank, including a Ph.D. degree in Statistics, a history of high-quality teaching, and a national/international reputation for scholarship and leadership.
