Greenwood County Family and Community Wellness Extension Agent Other
Greenwood County is located in the heart of the Flint Hills, a unique geological formation known for its tallgrass prairie. There are 6,689 county residents and three school systems. Eureka, located on Highway 54, about 60 miles east of Wichita, is the county seat. The family and community wellness position will focus on educational programming related to the needs of the 3,172 families residing in the county. This position will share responsibilities for the 4-H youth development program. There are currently 144 members in seven   4-H community clubs. Extension agents are community based faculty of Kansas State University who make a difference by connecting community needs with university resources. Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will provide primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programming to build healthy, sustainable communities, families and individuals. Programming will be conducted with volunteers, other community vitality and family and consumer sciences professionals at the local, regional and state level. Programming may include but is not limited to: strengthening families and individuals, building community capacity, family and community health and wellness, and local volunteer development.
McPherson County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent Other
McPherson County, population 28,500, is located in central Kansas. Its county seat, McPherson, home to McPherson and Central Colleges, is located at the intersection of Interstate 135 and Highway 56 approximately 50 miles north of Wichita. McPherson County is known for both its strong industrial and agricultural base and for being a clean, attractive and progressive area. The office staff includes three agents (family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and agriculture and natural resources), a program assistant and two office professionals. Extension agents are community based faculty of Kansas State University who make a difference by connecting community needs with university resources. Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will provide primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programming related to family and consumer sciences. Programming will include but is not limited to: family life, nutrition, food safety, parenting, communication, leadership, health and financial management (including Medicare education).

Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will provide primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programs for livestock production, including but not limited to: breed and species selection and management, nutrition, livestock facilities, animal identification, marketing, best management practices and sustainable production techniques.

The Extension Nutritional Assistant reports to the Shawnee County EFNEP/SNAP-Ed Agent.

Extension agents are community based faculty of Kansas State University who make a difference by connecting community needs with university resources. Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will provide primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programming to support successful families and the systems that serve them in communities. Programs may include but are not limited to: financial planning and management, Medicare and insurance education, consumer decision-making, lifestyle and business transition planning, entrepreneurship, and home management to promote independent living.

Sedgwick County is a multi-agent county in south central Kansas.  Wichita is the county seat of Sedgwick County, which includes 19 other cities.  The diversified urban, suburban, and rural population is near 500,000. Sedgwick County extension programs focused in the areas of Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture/Horticulture, and Community Development are conducted from a 41,000 square foot Extension Education Center located on 12 acres. The 4-H program has a strong tradition of leadership and participation in state and national 4-H events. There are 15 clubs, 8 strong county project groups, and 535 4-H members. Sedgwick County 4-H is based in nine school districts and 19 communities. This position is a part of a professional staff which includes 10 agents and 20 full and part time office and program support staff. Extension agents are community based faculty of Kansas State University who make a difference by connecting community needs with university resources. Agents are administratively responsible to the local extension director and the local extension board. This position will provide primary leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive 4-H program for school-aged youth in cooperation with local residents and extension colleagues. The primary focus of this position is youth development, specifically in the areas of club management, development and support, volunteerism, support for projects, leadership program, shooting sports, and youth engagement in state/national events. The selected candidate will be expected to provide programs that are research-based and designed for diverse audiences and include a variety of educational delivery methods. The agent must be able to work as part of a 4-H team including one other 4-H youth development agent, two part-time program assistants, and one office professional in the county to oversee delivery of 4-H educational programs.
