The Kansas Forest Service is looking for a full-time, term position as the District Forester of a 10-county district in Southeast Kansas. This position is responsible for providing rural forestry technical assistance to owners and managers of the region's rural forest resources including forest land, woodlots, windbreaks, and shelterbelts. Duties include the responsibility to plan, develop and conduct a balanced full-service forestry program to meet the needs of the resource and clientele in a positive and professional manner. This position will also establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with federal, state and local natural resource agencies and organizations on forestry related programs. Incumbent conducts a full-service forestry program with limited direct supervision. Approximately 80% of the time will be spent in the field, travel is routine with occasional overnight travel for special duties and training. Inclement weather on occasion but at the decision of the incumbent. The office location of this position is in Parsons, KS.

Diagnostic Technician Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Diagnostic Technician (level I or II). The person in this position will perform histology duties related to service and research. Duties will include trimming (grossing) of fixed biopsy and necropsy tissues, embedding tissues in paraffin wax, cutting tissues on a microtome and preparing glass slides of the tissues in accordance with those QA/QC guidelines of an AAVLD accredited laboratory. Also, routine filing of slides, tissue blocks, data entry, operating and maintaining automated histology equipment, immunohistochemical staining, disposing of tissues, and writing and updating standard operating procedures. Significant attention must be given to the KSVDL QMS (Quality Management System) and subsequent compliance.

The successful applicant will be a team member in the Mailroom and Sample Processing Lab. The primary duties entail performing all aspects of Rabies Serology pre-analytical work (receive and open packages from couriers and delivery services, organize, accession, and label samples (human and animal biological fluids), data entry, rack and data entry verification, other pre-testing procedures such as aliquoting, heat inactivation, and sample storage). May also perform additional support tasks as necessary and time allows. The successful applicant must have the communication and interpersonal skills needed to work as a team member. This mailroom receives a high volume of samples and thus requires the ability to work and enter data quickly while maintaining excellent attention to details.
Fellow (Post Doc) Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc). This position is for a Post-Doctoral fellow to conduct independent research as part of a newly established research team at K-State (Souza-Neto Lab). This position focuses primarily on studying the interplay between host/vector-virus-microbiome in agricultural and zoonotic arboviruses. The selected candidate will engage in research activities encompassing a wide repertoire of modern technologies including WGS, RNA-seq, 16S microbiomics, gene silencing and genome editing to identify target genes and microbes important for virus infection/transmission that could be further used to the development of countermeasure tools to such diseases. This position is part of multidisciplinary and collaborative activities that will require engagement with collaborators within and outside the college, including USDA, and requires dedication to activities related to insect vectors (mosquito) rearing and manipulation, and eventual support to animal. Duties would include planning and conducting experiments; writing and editing manuscripts/articles; establishing procedures and techniques; and provide educational guidance to students. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new molecular, viral, host and vector research with direct guidance from the Principal Investigator.
Seasonal Landscape Technician I Salina, Kansas On-site requirement

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a full time, 12-month, Post-Doctoral Fellow position. This Post-Doctoral position for independent research including but not limited to viruses such as Influenza, African swine fever, Vesicular Stomatitis, Rift Valley Fever, Monkey Pox and other select agents under both BSL-2 and BSL-3 bio-containment conditions. Duties would include planning and conducting experiments; writing and editing manuscripts/articles; establishing procedures and techniques; and provide educational guidance to students. This position is part of a very busy, successful research team whose main goal is to develop rationally designed vaccines and diagnostics against high-consequence foreign animal, emerging and zoonotic disease threats. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new molecular, viral research with direct guidance from the Research Science Manager and Primary Investigator. The research is conducted at the BSL2 and BSL3 level of containment and utilizes several select target animal models such as pigs, cows, chickens and mice. The position requires the acquisition and maintenance of a DOJ Select Agent clearance.
Animal Technician II Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
This is a relief emergency milking position. Duties include setting up milking equipment, carefully moving cows to and from the milking parlor, prepping cows properly for milking (predippping and cleaning of teats), diagnosing abnormal milk (if mastitis exists then proper milking and disposal of milk must occur), attaching milking machines, and post-dipping teats after milking. The employee sanitizes the equipment before and after each milking shift. In addition, the employee coducts regular inspection of the milk tank compressors, milk line and pump to ensure bulk storage tanks are operating correcting and cooling milk before, during, and after each milking shift. Other miscellaneous animal care duties may be assigned during the milking shift.

The Department of Anatomy and Physiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University is seeking a pharmacology faculty member (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). This is a full-time position with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. The position is available as (1) a research and teaching appointment (tenure-track/tenured) or (2) a primarily teaching appointment (clinical-track) and may be a 9- or 12-month position based on the applicant.
