Research Assistant (Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory) Manhattan, Kansas
The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Research Assistant. The personnel in this position will support the testing in the rabies laboratory including the performance of stocking reagents, and supplies, autoclaving, washing dishes, inventory control and ordering, and equipment preventative maintenance. Also, rabies antibody analyses on human and animal sera including aiding in serum neutralization and ELISA assays, the interpretation and reporting of serological and diagnostic results, and maintaining the quality system through documentation, review, and trend analysis for all tests as well as corrective action reports and ensuring the quality of test results.
Veterinary Assistant Manhattan, Kansas
The Veterinary Health Center with the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant. This position is responsible for ensuring that surgical instruments are properly cleaned and repacked. These items are then to be sterilized and presented back to surgery sections in a sterile condition. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that surgical supplies and commodities are maintained in adequate quantities for use, that surgical linens are properly washed, and to assist with small and large animal surgeries, as requested by the supervisor. This position will work a varying shift between 7 am-7 pm.

The duties of this position include performing routine daily animal husbandry for a wide variety of animal species (e.g.¸feeding, watering, cleaning stalls/pens/cages, waste disposal, sanitation/decontamination of facilities/equipment, etc.), animal handling/restraint/transport, general facility housekeeping/maintenance tasks, animal health monitoring/reporting, administering prescribed veterinary treatments (e.g., oral, topical, and/or injectable medications/drugs), assisting with anesthesia/surgical/necropsy procedures as required, and assisting with the research studies as required.
