Instructor Upward Bound Summer Program Salina, Kansas On-site requirement
The Office of the Vice Provost Student Success is seeking a part-time Instructor for the K-State Salina Campus. This position is responsible for developing and teaching summer curriculum to the TRIO Upward Bound (UB) participants. The Upward Bound Summer Program classes will be held June 5 - June 29, 2023. The Instructor reports to the Director and works closely with the Academic Services Coordinator. The Instructor reports to the Director and works closely with the Academic Services Coordinator. Instructors will develop a curriculum based on designated subject they are hired to teach (English; Science; Financial Literature; Math; Engineering and Technology; Foreign Language during the summer program for income-limited and/or first-generation college-bound students.). Instructor must be versatile in designing regular curriculum along with designing a project-based curriculum. Teach 3-4 classes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for four weeks. Attend weekly faculty meeting and 2-day training, June 1-2, 2023.
Staff Assistant Upward Bound Summer Program Salina, Kansas On-site requirement
The Office of the Vice Provost Student Success is seeking a Part-time Staff Assistant for the K-State Salina Campus. This position is responsible for providing supervision of the TRIO Upward Bound (UB) participants during the Upward Bound summer program. The Staff Assistant serves as a Mentor for the summer Upward Bound program at K-State Salina, Department of Vice Provost Student Success. The Upward Bound Summer program is June 5-July 14, 2023, and the residential portion of the summer program is June 5-June 29, 2023. The Mentor will facilitate small groups activities and events and supervise TRIO Upward Bound participants residing on campus during the residential summer program and attending college visits and cultural activities and events.

The Office of the Vice Provost Student Success is currently seeking a full-time Academic Services Coordinator for the TRIO Upward Bound. The Academic Services Coordinator reports to the Director of TRIO Upward Bound. The TRIO Upward Bound program is part of the Office of Student Success and located on the Salina campus in Salina, KS. The Academic Services Coordinator works closely with the Director in recruiting students for the program. The Academic Services Coordinator will complete assessments, academic planning, and monitor the academic progress of high school participants in the Upward Bound program. The Academic Services Coordinator co-facilitate a six week summer program. The Academic Services Coordinator will travel 50%-60% in this position. The Academic Services Coordinator travels weekly to four target area high schools (Monday: Clay Center Community High School, Tuesday, Lincoln Jr/Sr High School and Newton High School, and Wednesday: Ell-Saline Middle/High School-schedule may vary in the fall and spring) to complete advising sessions and maintain complete, accurate audit ready documentation of all services, and confidential participants’ records. The Academic Services Coordinator also co-supervise participants during summer residential programming and lead a team of summer staff during travel with participants to college visits and cultural activities and events. The Academic Services Coordinator will also develop evening and/or Saturday activities for the participants in the program and coordinate and monitor summer program core curriculum, summer staff (i.e. faculty, instructors, graduate students, mentors), and student mentor opportunities.
