About This Role:

The College of Business Administration at Kansas State University is seeking to fill the role of Director of the Center for Principled Business.  The newly created Center for Principled Business will build on our key strengths in entrepreneurship, business ethics, and economic education.  The mission of the CPB is to engage in teaching and research activities that develop business leaders, foster business innovation, and enhance economic growth for the benefit of society. The vision of the Center is to be the premier institution for the study of effective practices that foster business innovation and growth for the benefit of society

The Director serves as the public face and primary contact for the Center and reports to the Dean of the College of Business. The Director manages the day to day operations of the center and supervises an administrative assistant that supports the Center.  The Center will initially operate in three domains: (1) academic course delivery and curriculum enrichment, (2) non-credit educational programs, and (3) grants to fund course development and research.  The Director of the Center will work collaboratively with the Center affiliated faculty, colleges, and academic departments to advance the mission of the Center. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating and seeking approval from the college for the Center’s strategic plan.
  • Managing the budget and daily logistical operations of the Center by coordinating, planning, and conducting the non-curricular activities of the Center, including working collaboratively with faculty on grant submissions.
  • Securing resources for the Center’s growth and sustainability through philanthropic giving, revenue-generating activities, and the identification of relevant grant opportunities.
  • Developing strong relationships with various constituents including faculty, corporate partners, and high schools to help further the mission of the Center.
  • Creating and maintaining an external advisory board for the Center.
  • Promoting the activities of the Center. This includes disseminating Center sponsored research results to appropriate outlets. The director will arrange for the communication of the Center’s mission and accomplishments with granting organizations, individuals, and other funding sources.
  • Teaching classes and workshops/seminars in your area of expertise and that serve to advance the mission of the Center.
  • Providing service to the college and university as directed by the Dean of the College of Business.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (masters or doctorate) in a business-related discipline
  • Experience with the management of an academic center within higher education
  • Experience teaching in a higher education environment
  • Experience with external fundraising
  • Experience working with diverse groups of individuals

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Excellent organizational/administrative skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$90,000 - $100,000
