About This Role:

K-State Research and Extension is recruiting for the position of Program Coordinator for the Department of 4-H Youth Development in Manhattan, Kansas. 

The goal for this position is to coordinate with 4-H Specialists and other Program Coordinators in providing the day-to-day programmatic logistic support, direction and development to project related activities within Natural Science project areas including 4-H shooting sports education, grain sciences, horticulture crops, entomology, wildlife, and environmental sciences. To coordinate the promotion and distribution of learning resources related to projects, logistics for selected project related 4-H events, and logistics related to programmatic volunteer development for 4-H learning pathways. To identify and help develop solutions and initiatives for assigned areas of responsibility. This position reports to the department head of 4-H Youth Development

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree.
  • This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with academic training and/or professional experience relevant to position responsibilities.
  • Extensive experience in event management and logistics coordination.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (publications, presentations, web and social media).
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in working with youth and youth organizations including understanding of positive youth development and youth program management.
  • Experience in working with individuals, coworkers, and teams to accomplish individual and/or group goals, as evidenced by college, career, and/or community activities.
  • Knowledge of basic educational methods and the ability to effectively communicate/teach program specific material.
  • Ability to utilize electronic and online technologies for educational program delivery.
  • Understanding of different ethnic and socioeconomic audiences and a commitment to developing and delivering both inclusive and targeted programming.
  • Professional experience with electronic data management systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Position will require a willingness to travel and work nights and weekends as needed.
