About This Role:

The School of Family Studies & Human Services, within the College of Health & Human Sciences at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, is currently seeking a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor (non-tenure track) in the area of speech-language pathology to join the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program. Candidates with expertise in voice, anatomy and physiology, speech science, or AAC are preferred; however, other areas of expertise will be strongly considered.

Responsibilities for either tenure track or non-tenure track include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Mentor graduate students in clinical aspects of their professional development
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students
  • Provide service to the unit, school, college, and university

Additionally, a tenure-track candidate is expected to develop/maintain a productive research program in area of expertise. Clinic supervision opportunities may be available.

The School of Family Studies and Human Services consists of five primary academic programs (Communication Sciences and Disorders, Couple and Family Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Science, and Personal Financial Planning), as well as Cooperative Extension. The School is committed to conducting comprehensive research with a focus on mental, physical, relational, and financial health and well-being through multidisciplinary collaborations; providing transformational educational experiences to students; and enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through engaged and collaborative research, teaching, and service that addresses human needs and improves societal conditions. 

The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to five departments (Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics, and Health; Hospitality Management; Kinesiology; and the School of Family Studies and Human Services) and three academic units (Interdisciplinary Program in Gerontology, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, and General Human Ecology Studies). What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related field (ABD considered with Ph.D. completion date of December 2020)
  • Ability to conduct an active program of research in areas of expertise, publish, and seek external funding (tenure-track only)
  • Accomplished instructor for undergraduate and graduate courses
  • Ability to mentor and develop undergraduate and graduate students in academic and clinical settings
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration and inter-professional education opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of research activity, publications, and external funding in area of expertise
  • Experience with diverse populations and/or evidence of cultural competence
  • Possess CCC-SLP and eligibility for Kansas Licensure
  • Relevant professional/clinical experience working

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
