About This Role:

This position, as a representative of Kansas State University and K- State Research & Extension, will provide assistance to Kansas communities, farmers markets and possibly to grocery stores in our DUFB program coverage area (all of Kansas, other than the Kansas City and Wichita metro areas) to ensure that local sites are implementing the DUFB program and reporting their data correctly. The person in this position will assist local sites in getting started in the program, will oversee program compliance and will also ensure that the work of this project is well coordinated with other ongoing KSRE efforts (SNAP-Ed, developing local produce growers, etc). This position will work 32 hours per week. Position location is flexible and will be agreed upon with hiring manager.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience related to position, as evidenced by academic courses, professional development and/or professional experience appropriate to the needs of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in relevant field
  • Have experience successfully working remotely/telecommuting
  • Past experience working with Kansas State Research and Extension
  • Willingness to travel throughout Kansas to visit farmers markets and other partners
  • Experience with successful project planning/ management, budgeting, and recordkeeping
  • Knowledge of and experience with farmers’ markets and local food access initiatives
  • Experience in seeking and administering external grant funding
  • Experience working with persons from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Skills sets that include project planning/ management, communications, budgeting, recordkeeping, presentation software, database management.
  • Experience working with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) machines

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Some nights and weekends may be required, depending on when trainings and site visits are needed. Some overnight travel to meetings, site visits and trainings may be required.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$40,000- $50,000- commensurate with experience and qualifications.
