About this Role:

The Institute of Computational Comparative Medicine (ICCM) and Department of Anatomy and Physiology within College of Veterinary Medicine are seeking applicants for a Research Associate to work in the Computational Toxicology and Risk Assessment Laboratory of Dr. Zhoumeng Lin. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for designing and developing biostatistical approaches, risk analysis methods, and computational toxicology models, primarily physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models for use in food safety and risk assessment to improve public health decision making. This individual will receive training in PBPK modeling, dose-response modeling, risk assessment, computational toxicology, machine learning and/or neural network modeling.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop risk analysis methods and computational toxicology models, primarily physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models
  • Apply biostatistical and quantitative methods and models to food safety and risk assessment to improve public health decision making
  • Present research findings in professional conferences
  • Write manuscripts toward publication in high quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Help prepare documents for grant applications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biostatistics, bioinformatics, bioengineering, toxicology, pharmacology, epidemiology, environmental health, or a related field
  • Strong interest in biostatistics and computational toxicology modeling
  • Good verbal and written English skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in biostatiscal analysis with R or MATLAB or relevant software programs
  • Experience in pharmacokinetic modeling with Berkeley Madonna, Phoenix, or relevant software programs
  • Experience in risk assessment
