About This Role:

We have two openings on our team! The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (http://www.ksvdl.org/) and Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology (https://www.vet.k-state.edu/academics/dmp/), College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University are seeking two enthusiastic and collaborative anatomic pathologists to join our pathology group.  Both positions are clinical track at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  

Descriptions of each position are as follows:

Diagnostic Pathologist: Responsibilities of this position are 70-80% directed diagnostic service and 20-30% research /teaching.  Diagnostic service duties include necropsy, mail-in and biopsy case management, delivery of relevant, timely, and accurate diagnostic results, experiential instruction of senior veterinary students, and guidance and training of anatomic pathology residents.  The remainder of the appointment provides opportunities for collaborative or contract research and didactic teaching within the veterinary or graduate curricula of the department.

Experimental/Diagnostic Pathologist:  The responsibility of this position is divided into 50% diagnostic service and 50% research service. Diagnostic service duties are identical to those described above.  Research duties include design, execution, and pathology support for animal experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment.  Research duties will primarily support research projects in two national Centers of Excellence, the Center of Excellence for Emerging Zoonotic Animal Diseases (http://www.ceezad.org) and the Center on Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (https://www.k-state.edu/cezid),  

Successful candidates would join a growing community of scientists in the region that are affiliated with KSU, or federal and regional centers including the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility (https://www.usda.gov/nbaf), the Arthropod-borne Animal Diseases Research Unit (https://www.ars.usda.gov/plains-area/mhk/cgahr/abadru), and the Biosecurity Research Institute (https://www.bri.k-state.edu/).  Manhattan, KS is a vibrant university town that offers a high quality of life with great opportunities for outdoor recreation, dining, cultural opportunities, great public schools and close proximity to larger urban centers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requirements for both positions include a DVM or equivalent degree and ACVP board certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants with graduate training (M.S. or Ph.D. degree) will be given preference
