About This Role:

The Nouri lab in the Department of Plant Pathology is seeking a full-time research assistant to conduct virology-related experiments at the bench, growth chamber, and greenhouse.

Position duties include

  • performing molecular virology experiments related to plant (wheat) and insect viruses. Experiments require skills including RNA isolation and sequencing, RT-(q)PCR, cloning, plasmid purification, and northern and western blotting.

  • maintaining plant and insect colonies

  • managing lab orders.

Some weekend hours may be required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or microbiology with 5 years lab experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in virology, microbiology, or plant pathology highly preferred.

  • Molecular biology experience, including skills in RNA isolation, RT-(q)PCR, cloning, RNA-seq, library preparation, northern and western blotting. 

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
