About This Role:

This position will oversee the daily health and care of facility housed animals, and ensure that the facility complies and operates according to USDA APHIS, NAAB AND CSS guidelines. This position will manage IACUC, KDHE and University safety protocols, supervise the maintenance of the facility and assist with the daily bull collection schedule both on the KABSU premise along with field service.


*Assist with semen collection from bulls located at KABSU and from bulls   on client ranches.

*Some travel and occasional overnight stay is necessary.

*Will be responsible for movement of bulls within the facility for collections and health testing.

*Assist with the cleaning of equipment and facilities used for semen      

collection and health testing


*Provide feeding , care and management of bulls housed at KABSU.

*Assist with commodity procurement.

*Will have public interaction regarding entry and exit of housed bulls and haul in bulls


*Maintain grounds and facilities including equipment operation, fencing and general repair, welding, mowing, fertilizing, grading and graveling roads, snow removal and painting.


Manage IACUC, KDHE and Environmental Health and Safety protocols.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience handling bulls
  • Experience operating facilities maintenance equipment such as a skid steer, mower, and welder.
  • Experience handling liquid nitrogen, semen, and other semen collection equipment.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • All K-State employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless granted an exemption by the university) by December 8, 2021 or their first day of employment, whichever is later, pursuant to the federal executive order for federal contractors.
