| About Kansas State College Advising Corps (KSCAC)
KSCAC is a college access program aiming to support high school students in finding their best-fit postsecondary pathway. As part of the College Advising Corps network, KSCAC aims to increase the number of first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students who enter and complete higher education. We hire recent college graduates to serve as College Advisers full-time in high schools across the state of Kansas. Our College Advisers work closely with students to ensure that they are aware of all options, whether it be community college, four-year university, workforce, or military.

| The Research Associate position will support two Centers of Excellences; Center on Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (CEZID) and the Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Diseases (CEEZAD) for independent research involving viruses such as animal influenza viruses, Foot and Mount Disease Virus, African swine fever virus, Classical Swine Fever virus, Rift Valley fever virus, Vesicular Stomatis Virus, SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens. This includes the development of DIVA compatible vaccines for ASF, a universal vaccine for influenza, preclinical animal model development, pen-side diagnostic tests, and antiviral therapeutics for various viral pathogens. This position is part of a very busy, successful research team whose main goal is to develop rationally designed vaccines and diagnostics against high-consequence foreign animal, emerging and zoonotic disease threats. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new research projects with direct guidance from the Primary Investigator. The research is conducted at the BSL2 and BSL3 level of containment and utilizes several select target animal models such as pigs, sheep, cattle, chickens, hamsters, rat and mice. The position requires the acquisition and maintenance of a DOJ Select Agent clearance. |
