About This Role:

The Staley School of Leadership Studies is seeking to hire a Director for the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships. Kansas State University holds a longstanding commitment to encouraging and supporting students as they compete for nationally and internationally competitive scholarships and fellowships.  This position, is responsible for organizing and leading that institutional commitment and supports students throughout the process. Some of the duties are as follows:

  • Direct all administrative and managerial activities for the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships – a university-wide program including budget and resource management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with scholarship and fellowship foundations and external agencies
  • Develop resources and programming that encourages students to enhance skills and participate in experiences that will increase their competitiveness in the fellowship and scholarship process.
  • Organize and administer any required nomination and endorsement activities and serve as a resource for students during the application process
  • In support of the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships, the Staley School of Leadership Studies, and Kansas State University, serve on departmental and/or university committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor’s degree
  • One to Three years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned master’s degree
  • Three years of experience advising or preparing students for scholarships, internships, or employment
  • Identify and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders: across campus, from many different academic disciplines, with scholarship foundations, etc.
  • Pursue commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as an integral part of the recruitment and mentorship process
  • Believe in the potential of the scholarship/fellowship process to further student growth and set advising and mentoring priorities accordingly
  • Attentive to detail, mindful of deadlines, and capable of respectfully working with others in the pursuit of both
  • Strong communicator, both in writing and verbally, including public presentations and the strategic use of social media
  • Able to connect with students and form strong working relationships across a wide range of majors and career interests
  • Organized and administratively capable of effectively managing multiple deadlines and overlapping application cycles

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$65,000 - $ 75,000 per year
