About This Role:

The Crop Functional Genomics lab in the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources at Kansas State University is actively seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to elucidate the mechanisms of glutaredoxin-mediated heat tolerance in tomato during the reproductive stage. This position is funded for 16 months and is immediately available.

This position will mainly perform isolating and cloning of genes from tomato and maize for CRISPR, RNAi and overexpression.  Preferred qualifications of the successful candidate are:

- Having strong skill in molecular biology, including vector constructs (CRISPR, RNAi and overexpression), blotting, and qPCR
- Having experience handling developmental, physiological and biochemical evaluations/analyses

The candidate will also need to have knowledge in biotechnology tools for breeders to enhance heat tolerance in major Solanaceae crop species.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD degree related to plant science or molecular biology and one to three years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in the subjects of functional genomics and molecular biology of abiotic stress adaptation
