About This Role:

The Associate Director will serve as part of the leadership team for the KFMA program, working closely with the KFMA Executive Director, the KFMA Professional Development Officers and with the six Executive Economists leading the local associations.  Jointly, the KFMA Executive Director and KFMA Associate Director are responsible for oversight of the day-to-day activities of the KFMA program and directing KFMA Economists in program delivery to members.  Duties and responsibilities specific to the KFMA Associate Director will be assigned depending on the talents and interests of a successful applicant but may include:

  • Accomplish the KFMA program motto: Building strong relationships…producing excellence
  • Lead the KFMA program by instituting the KFMA program vison and mission
  • Build and maintain a culture of family within KFMA
  • Work closely with the leadership team in developing state- and association-level goals
  • Manage KFMA economists
  • Oversee the KFMA professional development officers and coordinate development and delivery of training programs for KFMA economists and office professionals
  • Assist KFMA executive economists in oversight of the local association
  • Coordinate marketing and promotion of the KFMA program
  • Develop a short-term and long-term KFMA internship program
  • Oversee farm-level analysis data collection efforts
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships throughout the KFMA program, including local association boards, the K-MAR-105 Association board, the KFMA economist team, and the Agriculture Economics Department

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in agriculture economics, business, accounting, finance or related field.
  • 3-5 years of farm management experience.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in agricultural economics, business, accounting, finance or related field.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
