About This Role:

This position is the primary contact for the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry events for the planning, organizing and coordinating of the administrative and organizational details regarding all events and activities including registration, housekeeping, audio and video and room set up, hotel accommodations, follow up with speakers and faculty.  This position also serves as the primary point of contact for catering, and hosting events conducted. Provides on-site assistance for events which may involve working outside the normal office hours. Some travel as well as evening and weekend work activities required.

Responsible for coordinating the strategic planning and implementation of Animal Sciences and Industry events. Provides strategic leadership to develop the desired outcomes for each event and develops and implements a plan of action to achieve these outcomes within the established budget. The positions will support the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry in the planning, organizing and coordinating of administrative and organizational details regarding all events and activities including registration, housekeeping, A/V and room set up, hotel accommodations, follow up with speakers and faculty. This position is the primary point of contact responsible for the catering and hosting of events conducted. Provides outstanding customer service consistent with the department’s mission of all internal and external clients. Provides on-site assistance for events which may involve working outside the normal office hours. Some travel as well as evening and weekend work activities required.

Provide assistance to the Extension Coordinator for the Animal Sciences and Industry Department, whom will also serve as faculty supervisor of this position. The ASI Extension Coordinator provides leadership to faculty and staff in the department with extension appoints, hence, this position will support these efforts in roles related to but not limited to, organization and execution of extension – related gatherings, extension schools and workshops,  PFTs, a monthly newsletter, publicity of events, website updates and other efforts relevant to the Coordinator’s leadership role. This position will also support the Extension Coordinator in communications, travel, calendar maintenance, and other tasks as requested by this supervisor.

Assist faculty and staff with extension appointments in managing travel, calendars, correspondence, and other functions as time permits relative to primary role with events and supporting the Extension Coordinator

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Educational  Equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Capacity and willingness to lead ASI personnel in planning, organizing and executing various Animal Science related events
  • Experience with spreadsheets, database management, and website applications
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, stakeholders and other customers
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Documented excellence in planning and executing events
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets
  • Experience in working with Extension programs and personnel
  • Experience with youth-related programs
  • Experience in administrative support
