About This Role:

The Department of Applied Human Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking a 9-month Teaching Assistant Professor to join their on-campus team. This position will be responsible for teaching and advising students in the Early Childhood Education program. This non-tenure track position will report directly to the Department Head.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach early childhood education and early childhood special education courses on-campus and online
  • Engage in scholarly activity
  • Advise graduate students
  • Provide leadership at the local, regional, and national levels
  • Participate in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels

This 9-month position at the rank of teaching assistant professor has a preferred starting date of August 2023, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

In addition, the college received approval from the Kansas Board of Regents to serve as a satellite location for the WSU nursing program. What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in human development, education, or a closely related field
    • Candidates with ABD status are eligible to apply under the requirement that defense is scheduled with the conferral of a degree expected by August 2024
  • Expertise in child development and early childhood special education programming and policy
  • Professional experience in an early childhood setting serving young children, birth through kindergarten, with special needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated successful experience with:
    • Teaching at the university level
    • Providing professional development
    • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and/or professionals
  • Potential for scholarly activity resulting in professional publications and presentations
  • Potential for graduate faculty eligibility
  • Potential for obtaining external funding, quality teaching, and service
