About This Role:

The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Laboratory Technician. This position will perform diagnostic testing in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory; this includes operating analyzers, reporting results, and maintaining instrumentation used for diagnostic testing. Administrative duties, such as accessioning tests, reviewing test results, and assisting clients via email, phone, and fax, are also required.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform quality control testing and monitor results to maintain laboratory equipment in working condition. Monitor test results for transcription errors. Troubleshoot, repair, and perform calibrations and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Perform diagnostic testing within established turn-around times.
- Receives requests and processes laboratory samples according to laboratory protocol, assists clients via phone, email and fax.
- All other duties as assigned which include but are not limited to: research testing, and general housekeeping.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree with MLT certification (or equivalent).
- Two years experience in a laboratory with automated and some manual procedures.
- Completion of at least 6 months in a training program in Clinical Lab Science approved by the ASCP, AMT, and AMA, ASCP or AMT certification (or equivalent) as a registered Clinical Laboratory Scientist OR Registered Veterinary Technician with either diagnostic laboratory experience or minimum 2 years professional experience.
- Basic computer skills including databases, spreadsheets, word processing and data entry.
- Excellent written and oral, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
