The department of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc). The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting research in applying multiple cutting-edge selection techniques to synthetic and immune phage display antibody systems to independently perform antibody screening to identify biotherapeutic molecules. Additional areas of research will involve the validation of identified candidate molecules to determine binding properties and functional characterization. Previous hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, immunology, vaccinology, and animal husbandry is required.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Utilize new knowledge, and contemporary technology and approaches to rationally design and implement high-throughput development of biotherapeutics. Design, generate, and quality control validate antibody display libraries. Hands-on skills on antibody production and purification, screening B cells to identify and subclone candidate antibody genes into expression vectors, and generation of recombinant antibodies. Characterize antibody binding properties using various assays, such as ELISA, FACS, epitope binding, reporter gene assays, biological assays such as ADCC/Complement-mediated target lysis. Design and improve binders through affinity maturation and humanization, and conduct assays to validate potential binders in-vitro and in-vivo.
