About This Role:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is seeking a Seed Equipment Technician to assist with seed production for the Foundation Seed Program at the Agronomy North Farm. Primary responsibilities include organizing and performing activities related to the production of foundation class certified seed of various species of crops, and working on and with specialized equipment, trucks, augers, structures, etc. This individual will work closely with Agronomy Farm and Western Kansas Agricultural Research Center personnel to accomplish objectives

Worksite Options:

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

 

 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and one year of relevant experience
  • Experience in operating farm equipment including grain trucks, trailers, augers, tractors, and other.
  • Must have skills pertaining to mechanical, electrical, basic woodworking, and basic welding projects and repairs
  • A Kansas Commercial Pesticide license (Class 1A, 4, and 7B) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months and a Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class A or the ability to obtain one within 6 months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the operation of seed conditioning, treating, bagging equipment, and general seed production knowledge
  • Experience with general farming activities such as planting, spraying, and harvesting
  • Computer skills including experience in Microsoft Word and Excel, and QuickBooks or the ability to learn

Other Requirements:
