About This Role:

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a research assistant. This position manages a BSL-2 laboratory. The person hired will also help in running animal experiments in BSL-2 level of biocontainment and processing samples for virology and immunology assays.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
|
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in animal science, microbiology, biology, chemistry or any other relevant field.
- Prior lab experience with basic wet lab skills, e.g., PCR, ELISA-based assays and cell culture.
- Prior experience or strong commitment to work with animal models and in BSL-2 laboratories.
- Well-versed with Microsoft Office, including working on excel sheet and preparing PowerPoint slides.
- Experience in academic writing is preferred as the candidate will help in reviewing published articles, working with lab’s own manuscripts, and writing Standard Operating Procedures as well as biosafety manuals.
- Ability to keep good records of works in the laboratory, troubleshoot general lab equipment, plan and conduct experiments independently, and write and edit posters, presentations, and manuscripts.
- BSL-2 experience, animal handling experience, and ability to work independently.
